In any job management system the setup order is the same: business details first, then a client, then the first quote. Everything else, jobs and invoices and payments, hangs off those three. Chippie follows that order, and the free plan covers all of it.
What the free plan covers
- One user, 20 jobs a month, no credit card.
- Unlimited clients, quotes and invoices within that job count.
- The whole loop: quote, job, invoice, paid.
- No expiry. It is a plan, not a trial.
Set up your business details
Your quotes and invoices are only as professional as the details on them. In Settings, fill these in once and every document after that carries them.
| Detail | Where it shows up | Skip it and |
|---|---|---|
| Business name and ABN | The header of every quote and invoice | Your invoice is not a valid tax invoice |
| Logo | Top of the PDF and the online quote page | Documents look like a template, not a business |
| Contact details | The footer, and how a client replies | Clients ring the number in their phone instead |
| GST registration | Adds the tax line and the wording | Your GST-registered business under-bills itself |
If you are GST registered, switch GST on here once and every quote and invoice after that calculates it for you.
Add your first client
A client record is a name and a way to reach them. Add a client from the Clients screen, or add one on the fly while making your first quote. Chippie keeps every quote, job and invoice for a client in one place, so the history is there next time they call.
Send your first quote
Create a quote, add line items with a description and an amount, and email it straight from your phone. What lands in the client's inbox is:
- A branded PDF with your logo and business details.
- A link to an online quote page they can open on a phone.
- An accept or decline button that needs no account and no app.
When they accept, the quote becomes a job with one tap, carrying the quoted details with it, and when the work is done the job becomes the invoice the same way.
What to do next
Work the loop until it feels normal, then add the two things that speed it up:
- Connect Stripe so clients can pay the invoice the moment it lands rather than when they next sit down.
- Use the calendar to schedule jobs as they book in, so the week is visible instead of remembered.
- Bulk import your contacts if you are moving from another app or a spreadsheet. See Managing clients.
