In any job management system the payment step should answer one question with certainty: has this invoice been paid or not? Everything else, meaning how the money actually moves, is a choice you offer the client. Chippie records the certainty and supports the choices.
Your payment methods, on every invoice
Set your accepted payment methods once in business settings and they appear on every invoice PDF and email automatically.
| Method | Setup | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Bank transfer | Your account details in settings | Most trade work, and every commercial client |
| Card, via Stripe | Connect a Stripe account | The pay-it-now-while-I-am-here moment |
| Cash | Nothing to set up | Small jobs and long-standing customers |
Clients always know how to pay, which removes the most common reason an invoice sits untouched.
Card payments through Stripe
Connect Stripe and clients can pay invoices by card from the link in the email. Card payments suit the moment where the client is standing in front of you and would rather settle it now than remember later, and that moment is worth real money in avoided chasing. Stripe's standard card fees apply per transaction and go to Stripe, not to us.
Bank transfer and cash
Plenty of trade work is still paid by transfer or cash, and that is fine. The point is the record:
- When the payment arrives, confirm it or mark the invoice paid.
- The paid date is recorded automatically, the same way every time.
- Your books then say what actually happened rather than what you remember.
That consistency is what makes the dashboard's unpaid list trustworthy. A list you do not trust is a list you stop looking at.
